CARBURATORS OVERHAUL

As previously mentioned, had carburation problems when I received the car due to the considerable difference in altitude (+ 8,000 feet), tried to tune them up and not only couldn't do it, but one of the floats got tuck, so I decided to order a repair kit from Moss Motors, Ltd (https://mossmotors.com/)
While waiting for the parts to arrive, unmounted and disassembled the carburetors, cleaned them, dealt with stripping the silver paint that had been sprayed on linkages and screws to hide rust (lovely), etc.

The carbs were quite dirty and with paint in some places. It required quite a bit of work to have them decently cleaned, I would have loved to have an ultra sonic or a soda blasting cleaner!

The end result was quite good though, and I learned quite a bit about the SU carbs.
I found a few good sources of information, which links I attach below:

Below there are pictures of the carburetors cleaned, assembled and ready to be reinstalled

One problem that I came across was the choke return spring.  When I took apart the first carb, it came off suddenly and I did not realize how it was attached, so I thought that I was going to learn from the one that was still assembled, however, even though I was trying to be careful, the same thing happened again.  So I resorted to the volvoforum.org.uk and Ron Kwas came to the rescue:
