The car came with the original generator that was not working, even though I want to keep the car as close to original as possible, an alternator is such an improvement over the generator that I could not resist, so after checking for conversion kits, I landed in Ron Kwas site "Swedish Embassy" (

I ordered the kit (new mounting bracket, pivot bolt, plug, etc) and installed per the excellent instructions provided, without any problem, besides when I had a question, I contacted Ron and got the answer immediately.

Duralast Gold 7127-3N |
SW-EM recommends a refurbished Delco Style 10 or 12SI, which I could not get in Mexico, so I bough a new Duralast Gold Model 7127-3N, however the position of the plug was not at 12 o'clock (see picture at right) as required, so I open the housing and turned it. BEWARE of the brushes popping out. I found this video to provide a very clear explanation on the way to proceed:

Ron provides invaluable advice on a number of technical subjects and is a great source of information, visiting his site is a must. He also has a number of other kits for sale, I just bought a brake light switch upgrade that is in transit.
